Mumford Fine Art is a Rooftop Gallery based in Soho, London, which represents contemporary artists based in Britain & North America, as well as the Estate of the renowned 20th century British sculptor Dame Elisabeth Frink. Carrying on Frink’s recognized relentless drive to produce new work – from dawn til dusk literally every day of the week – and not being held back by concerns for current art trends yet maintaining an absolute commitment to conceiving one’s own creative vision, we support the work of contemporary artists who are equally committed to their practices. Indeed the artists’ oeuvres vary broadly, and all effectively form differing aspects of the curatorial vision of gallery Director Susan Johnson Mumford.
The artists initially produce single pieces with the greater aim of continuing to develop their abilities in form and theory by the experience of each work of art created. Such individual pieces eventually help to form a full body of artwork that tells a story within itself – as often indicated by an exhibition title - resulting in full expositions as seen in the gallery. The elements from such showings might be individual paintings, sculptures or photographs which might then be separated into individual collections, however the context of such works will have always started as the larger concept, developed & created by the artist, and presented to the public by way of the gallery space.
The gallery presents an ongoing programme of solo and group exhibitions in the Rooftop Gallery, as well as frequently displaying selections of work at art fairs in both the UK and USA. Individual pieces from previous exhibitions by gallery artists can be viewed online. We are continually updating the image database, so please check the site frequently or enquire to see additional works by artists. We encourage a personal visit to the gallery or an art fair to view artwork in person – this enables the appreciation of colours, textures, techniques, and such nuances otherwise not recognisable. Please check our Exhibitions & Fairs page for what’s happening now and in the future. And feel free to subscribe to our Enewsletter.
